So it’s been over a year since I wrote The Many Series Adventure blog. So thought I would give a quick update on what is happening with that. I am proud to say that I have finished……(drum roll please)…….ONE of those series! But hey it’s a start. So I’m just going to do a quick run down of what series I finished, which one I am currently reading to finish and which ones I ended up just selling.
Completed:
Yessssssss I finally, four years after the book was published…I believe, I finally finished the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. OK now don’t yell at me. I do LOVE Ms. Maas. I do LOVE this series but I was a bit disappointed in the last book. In no way did it need to be as long as it was and while yes it’s great my favorite characters didn’t die, sometimes I don’t like a happy happy ending. I don’t want to say too much in case someone hasn’t read or finished the series yet, but lets just say I was a bit underwhelmed with this last book. I am excited to continue on with her books though. She is a fantastic fantasy author!

Please no hate. They were not bad books. I enjoyed the first two books in The Illuminae Files but I think I waited too long to finish that I just lost interest. The other series I only read the first book. I did enjoy it but not enough to continue on when I have so many other books I want to read. Maybe at some point I will get to these but who knows. And if so I will be borrowing them because I got rid of my copies.
Series I still need to finish:
I don’t know why it has taken me so long to finish this series because to me Brandon Sanderson is just fucking amazing when it comes to fantasy writing. There are also 3 or maybe 4 spin off books to go with this series as well that I will read. Then I plan on diving into his other series because I have heard nothing but amazing things about them. I also want to read the Wheel of Time series because not only have I heard its an amazing series but Brandon Sanderson wrote the last three books when Robert Jordan passed away before finishing the series. Which I do own the first two books in that series.
Still need to finish this trilogy. I only read the first book. So I’ll probably find a good recap summary so I can refresh what happened before continuing to the second and third book. If you have yet to read anything by Marissa Meyer I highly suggest her Lunar Chronicles Series. It’s a great series. I have book one in her new duology, Gilded. Cursed comes out next week. So I will be working on getting those two books read in the new year as well.
Leigh Bardugo writes such fun fantasy books. It has been a long time since I was in the Grisha Universe that I am thinking I might do a reread of all of them before starting this book. She has like 3 separate series but they all tie in together. There is the Grisha Trilogy, Six of Crows duology and Then there is this book, King of Scars, which has a sequel, Rule of Wolves. I am not sure if it will remain a duology of if there is more to come.
Back to Sarah J Maas. So I definitely need to get to this one soon. Still trying to decide if I want to reread the original three books in this series before jumping into this or just reading a summary recap of the original three books. But I do know I need to continue on because not only did I LOVE this world but it ties in with her Crescent City series that is just absolutely, fucking amazing! I do know we are getting more books in the ACOTAR and Crescent City series. Just not sure which one will come next. If anyone is on the up and up with this authors info please let me know in the comments!
Oh saving the best for last! I am totally in LOVE with V.E. Schwab. So I told myself after my last relationship ended that I would pause on any kind of dating. It would be me time for an entire year. So in June 2022 I made a contract with myself that states: No dating, No booty calls, No dating apps, NOTHING for an entire year. I needed to find myself again, work on myself, learn to love myself and so on. But this lady right here…..I would break that contract if it meant I got to date her, or marry her. She is by far my favorite person on earth! Well besides my kids! But seriously, I have loved everything she has written. I have multiple copies of books, special editions, signed copies. In fact I currently have a book en route to me from Waterstones in England that is the special anniversary edition of This Savage Song! Any-who…I could go on and on about this lady. Maybe I will do a blog about her in the future. I do still need to read this book. But I will probably reread Vicious first. It was an amazing book. Also I do know there is a third book in the making. Not sure when it will come out yet but I will own it! I also want to get the UK editions of these books because the covers are amazing!
Series I have started since I started this series adventure:
So I finally took the plunge, after having seen the TV series loads of times, and started this series. I buddy read the first book, A Game of Thrones, with my sister from down under (she’s an Aussie) last year and enjoyed it! So I will be continuing on with this series and the Fire & Blood as well. I will take my time though since George R.R. Martin is taking his bloody time to write the books.
So I actually finished the original triology, Sabriel, Lireael and Abhorsen, late last year. Bloody brilliant series. Garth Nix, like Brandon Sanderson, has spin off books as well. So I will be getting to those. I can’t wait to continue on this adventure.
This is another series I completely forgot about. Rainbow Rowell is one of the few contemporary authors I will read. Fan Girl was my favorite. I am so happy she expanded on the Simon Snow story from Fan Girl and made it a series of its own. I have read the first book, shown above. But I will rearead it for sure before reading the next two books in the trilogy. Simon Snow! Oh man I just adore him.
Well that is it for now. I will probably do another update later in to 2023 and let you know how I am doing with my goal of finishing up series I love and need to finish!
