Well here I am. It’s been a few months since I’ve blogged and even then I haven’t been consistent with it. Hoping to change that. I was sitting one day staring at my books trying to decide what to read. I realized that I have a ton of series I have started and never finished. Most of them its just the last book in the series. And it’s not that I didn’t enjoy that series. Heck all of them sit on my “favorites” bookcase. It’s more likely that I just didn’t want to see it end. Or I am just a lazy reader. But let’s go with the first one. So this blog will be about the series I need to finish and what I plan to do about that. Some of these series I will show either have just the last book left to read or I read the first and need to finish the others. All but 2 of these series I am actually going to start over from the beginning. With most it has been a LONG time since I read the prior books that I want to refresh my memory. So let’s get into it shall we?!

First up…Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas. I read the first book in this series back in August of 2016. I breezed through these books. Most were out by the time I started it. When Empire of Storms (second to last book) came out I read it immediately, which was February of 2017! so it’s been since 2017!!! Kingdom of Ash, pictured above and the last book in this series, came out in 2018! I have yet to read it. This is truly because I don’t want to see it end and I am afraid my favorite character will die. But it’s time. It’s time for me to face my fears and take the plunge. This will be a series I plan to start over with from book one. It will be interesting to see if my views have changed about this series.

Oh lordy, yes another Sarah J Maas book. But….at least this book JUST came out earlier this year and I have read the original ACOTAR trilogy. It has been since 2017 when the trilogy ended. So I will start over before diving into this one. I am excited for this one. I am so happy she decided to write more. Does anyone know if there will be more after this one? I hope so. I just love the worlds she creates.

Ok up next….I honestly don’t remember who turned me onto these books but my gosh THANK YOU! I read the first two books in 2016 and was soooooo excited for the third book. Bought it and then….yes I didn’t read it. See a pattern happening? I remember loving everything about this book. The atmosphere, the characters, the world, and the format in which they wrote it. Since it has been since 2016 I do plan on starting over from the beginning. Not that I mind!

Oh Ms. Schwab. How I love thee! I have to say she is my favorite author! Absolutely love everything I’ve read that she has wrote. I own all her books. I’ve read almost all of them. This series is her middle grade series and it’s still brilliant. This isn’t one I have been putting off. This book just came out earlier this year. I read the first book at the end of 2019 and the second book in 2020. So I won’t be starting over with this series because I remember enough of it to just dive into this last book. And man I can’t wait!!

Are you seeing another pattern yet?? My, I find an author, love them and then not finish the series, pattern? I read Vicious back in 2016. Hmmm 2016 seems to be the year of starting a series and then not finishing it. Vengeful came out in 2018 and once again…..have yet to read it. Since it has been many years since I read the first book I will be starting over with this duology.

Ok now on to other things…This would be a new series but part of a world that includes other series. Most of you probably know what world I am referring to. If not, it’s the Grisha Universe. There is the Grisha Trilogy, the Six of Crows duology and then this series…which currently has 2 books. I am not sure if there will be more. At the beginning of the year I reread the first book in the Grisha Trilogy. I do plan on starting from the very beginning before starting this new series (well new to me, since this book came out in 2019). Since I did reread book 1 of the Grisha Trilogy earlier this year I will start from book 2 and finish with Rule of Wolves (which is the 2nd book in this newer series). Then maybe I will try the new tv show they made. I believe it’s on Netflix…or Hulu…I can’t remember. I am a bit nervous to watch it.

Oh Mr. Brandon Sanderson….I was late to the game when it came to Mr. Sanderson. But better late then never. I read the first two books in this trilogy last year. So I won’t be starting over. I will just be diving into this beautiful creature! I will probably continue with the other books. They are more of spin offs from the original trilogy. I’m sure they will be just as good. I mean it’s Brandon Sanderson afterall!

I picked up the first two books in this trilogy last year. Solely because of the authors. I loved their other trilogy that they wrote together so decided to give this one a go. Read book one last year and now need to continue. The last book, or I believe its the last, just came out this year. So this is another I haven’t been putting off as long as others. While I do like this series so far, I mean I’ve only read the first book, I think I like the Illuminae Files better so far.

And last, but certainly not least, we got The Renegades Trilogy. I adore Marissa Meyer’s writing. Her Lunar Chronicles series was AMAZING! I do remember enjoying Renegades, which is the first book in this trilogy. I read it back in 2018. This trilogy is completed and I own all the books. (Pictured is book 2). I plan on starting from book one again. Just as a refresher.

Well that’s all of them, for now. So how will this work you ask? Well I actually got an itch to reread the Harry Potter series again….I’ve been watching the movies at work with my residents (I work at a facility for people with disabilities and they absolutely love Harry Potter) and it got me in the mood to reread it. It’s been a few years. So last night I started Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. After I finish that book I plan to start one of the series pictured above. I made a pick jar.

Last night my friend Deb picked out of the jar for me to see what I would read next….and the winner was…

This is a series I plan to start from the beginning. This is a smaller series and with the way it’s formatted it shouldn’t take me long to read all 3 books. So after reading this trilogy I will read the next Harry Potter book. Now if I pick a series that has a LOT of books in it (Sarah J. Maas, Leigh Bardugo for example) I will break it up into chunks and read some Harry Potter books in between the series. Just to break it up a little.
So that’s that! Besides staring at my bookshelves I’ve just been busy with life. Work and school! I finally am going back to uni and finishing up my bachelors degree in anthropology and history. So that keeps me pretty busy but I really have missed reading and need to make more time for that as well. I do enjoy what I have to read for class but I need some fiction-pleasure reading as well. Happy Happy Reading everyone!!!!!
