Wait? What? 2020 already?

Wow look at us! We made it another year. How we did it I’m not sure. 2019 was a hell of a year, for me anyway. It may have started out as a bit of a mess but it ended on a good note. So let’s just dive into this. This will be about stuff I have planned, goals I want to accomplish in both life and reading. We will start with life goals…..

Life Goals

Let’s go back a few years. In 2013 I started college. I graduated with an associates degree. I always planned on finish my Bachelor’s degree and go off and teach. But life got in the way. I also switched paths and decided to go into nursing since it was a bit more stable of a job. But after working in the medical field I have come to the conclusion that while I love taking care of people and I have been told I would be a great nurse, my heart just isn’t into it as much as teaching. So after talking with Brent and mulling things over I have decided to go back to college in the fall of 2020 to finish my bachelor’s in History and enter the world of teaching. My ultimate goal is to teach at the college level and do field work as well. I have been obsessed with history since I was a preteen. Listening to my Great-Grandfather talk about being a POW during WWII is what got me hooked. Since then I have become obsessed with Medieval/Middle ages times, specifically England and Scotland. I have recently developed an interest in Russian History.

Brent and I have a few things planned for the upcoming year. We want to go on a road trip sometime. Visiting mainly Arizona and Utah. We are still working out the details of it all. We also have some concerts we want to attend and also go skydiving. It will be my first time jumping out of a plane but not his. I am totally excited and nervous for it.

As far as other life goals it’s the basic stuff: work on getting healthier, read more, blog more and yada, yada crap. *Insert eye-roll*

Blogging Goals

So I don’t think I will change much about this content of this blog. It will remain a place to talk books and movies. I do want to do more of my Book vs. Movie blogs. Maybe do some bookish tags. I did enjoy those whenever I did them. If there is anything you want to see me do that is book/movie related let me know in the comments below. Or if you just want to recommend any books or movies I should read/watch in 2020 let me know. I’m always looking for new things.

Since I have just a deep love of history I actually decided to start another blog that is dedicated to History, Myths & Legends. In fact that is what the new blog page is called. I already have a long list of stuff I want to talk about on that blog page. I am not sure when my first post will be but I am hoping before the end of January I will have all that up and running.

Reading Goals

Man these last few years have been terrible reading years for me. While I am sad I didn’t get to read as much as I would have liked, I am not mad a myself in anyway. I still read. That is the point. It’s not about the numbers. It shouldn’t be a competition. I believe I will set my Goodreads Reading Challenge number at a low 12. That’s only 1 book a month. Hopefully I can read more than that. But between work, a new relationship, starting back at school in the fall and just life in general I don’t want to overwhelm myself.

There are a few book series I would like to finish up. That was a goal in 2019 but I only managed to finish the last book in one series. So maybe I can bust out a the last books in a couple more series this year. We will see. I also want to read more nonfiction/history books. But I am a mood reader. So what I read will all depend on my mood. Right now while typing out this blog I am in a history/myth reading mood.

New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day Celebrations

So this was our first New Year’s celebration together. I couldn’t have asked for a better night. We just stayed in. Grilled some food, had a few drinks, listened to some music and watched some Game of Thrones.

I love that I found a man that I can cook with. It makes it so much more enjoyable. Plus it helps that he makes some yummy ass food. After eating we watched an episode of Game of Thrones. Then went to Braum’s for ice cream. We brought along Luigi.

So we started a tradition for New Year’s morning. Homemade waffles! OMG they were so good. Brent’s dad got him a mini waffle maker for Christmas. Makes the cutest mini waffles. Perfect size. We experimented a little and did plain waffles, raspberry waffles, blueberry waffles and bacon waffles.

I can’t wait to see what happens in 2020. I believe it is going to be an AMAZING year! I wish everyone a good year of reading, writing, life, health and love!!
