Reading Update

Kell is one of the last Antari—magicians with a rare, coveted ability to travel between parallel Londons; Red, Grey, White, and, once upon a time, Black.

Kell was raised in Arnes—Red London—and officially serves the Maresh Empire as an ambassador, traveling between the frequent bloody regime changes in White London and the court of George III in the dullest of Londons, the one without any magic left to see.

Unofficially, Kell is a smuggler, servicing people willing to pay for even the smallest glimpses of a world they’ll never see. It’s a defiant hobby with dangerous consequences, which Kell is now seeing firsthand.

After an exchange goes awry, Kell escapes to Grey London and runs into Delilah Bard, a cut-purse with lofty aspirations. She first robs him, then saves him from a deadly enemy, and finally forces Kell to spirit her to another world for a proper adventure.

Now perilous magic is afoot, and treachery lurks at every turn. To save all of the worlds, they’ll first need to stay alive

So I am still working my way through A Conjuring of Light by V.E. Schwab. It is the last book in the Darker Shades of Magic trilogy. To prevent spoilers I posted the synopsis for the first book above. But I am going to leave a link to the Goodreads synopsis for A Conjuring of Light at the end of this blog. So my goal for 2019 was to finish the last book in every series I’ve started, loved and have yet to finish. So Darker Shades of Magic trilogy will be my first completed series for 2019…

I am getting close to being half way done with this book. The first half has ripped my heart out a few times already. I’ve shed a few tears for sure. It is amazing how attached you can get to fictional characters. Even ones who are suppose to be villains. I’ve always had a soft spot for villains, well some. Specially if I have a sad background story on them. I’m not sure if Ms. Schwab intended for Holland for be a villain or not but either way I am slowly falling in love with him in this book. Of course Kell and Rhy will always have a spot in my heart. Lila Bard while still a bad ass chick is getting a little on my nerves in this book so far. Hopefully that will change by the end of the book.

The world building is still absolutely amazing. While reading I can picture it all in my head like a movie. That is not an easy task for an author.

Well that is all I have for now. Just wanted to let you know what I’ve been reading lately. I work the rest of this week but off this weekend. Hoping to finish the book then. Still decided if I want to reread Pet Semetary by Stephen King and do a Book vs Movie blog or read some of the new mangas I got. I guess we will see what my mood is. What would you like to see me do?
