How are we on July 2017 wrap up already? I mean I’m not complaining. I’m excited for fall/winter
So let’s get into this! I read 8 books. 2 of which were DNF’s and I will leave those for last. I won’t get into a full discussion on why I DNF’d those but if you want to know more details comment below and we can talk! So I’m going to start off with my FAVORITE book of July and one that will make it into my top favorite books of 2017!
5/5 ๐ this book was AMAZING! Specially that cover! Full review can be found Here
Now to the rest. I don’t have reviews for all. I have been struggling to keep up with blogs and reviews lately. I promise to do better from here on out
4/5 ๐ this was my first Laini Taylor book. Review can be found here
4/5 ๐ I dove right into book 2 after finishing Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I still need to read the last book in the trilogy. Will probably be an August read. I didn’t do a review for this one. I’ll do a double review of this and the last when I finish the trilogy.
4/5 ๐ The movie Misery was my first introduction to Stephen King when I was just a teenager (so over 20 years ago ๐ฎ). I finally got around to reading the book. Man Annie Wilkes is more bat shit crazy in the book than the movie! Gah I love her!
3/5 ๐ this was enjoyable. A great debut novel for sure! It has its creepy moments for sure! It was a definite plus that the setting is in my home state of Michigan โ๐ป and the author is from and lives in Michigan also! I feel this book will be a lot more creepier on screen (which is being made into a movie). I plan on reading more of his books for sure!
3/5 ๐ I read this book for Shark Week! I love the movie and didn’t know it was a book until last year. While I did enjoy this (the movie was so much better) it has a couple not so needed moments. I go into more depth in my review where I talk about the book (in detail, with spoilers) and then compare to the movie (which I watched the day after finishing the book).
Now for my two DNF books
I know I know! How could I???? Well sorry but this was just horrible. I made it to 314 pages and then skimmed a few parts and called it quits. Stephen King has a problem with info dumping. And this was one of the worst. So long winded. Rambles way too much. And then there is the part! I’m totally ok with people loving this book. What I’m not ok with is the fact that NO ONE talks about the most unnecessary, totally gross part in the book unless they hated the book. Sorry but a sex orgy between 1 girl and I lost count on how many boys, all in the PRE-TEEN age! Yes not even teenagers (not that that would make it ok)! In a sewer just so they could “escape” pennywise? ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ and please don’t even try to say it “strenghtened their friendship” yes I’ve been told that before. Sorry but that’s NOT friendship! They should have said No we will find another way. They shouldn’t have taken advantage of a young girl who was abused by her dad ๐ Fuck that! ummm yea Stephen what the fuck was that? Gross ๐คข. That’s like borderline child molester mind right there. Maybe it was the heavy drugs and alcohol he was on at the time he wrote this but how in the world that editor didn’t catch that and make him rewrite it is beyond me! I’m so glad the directors of the made for TV mini-series and the new movie have enough brains to leave that shit out. Don’t get me wrong I loved the first movie, will more than likely love the new movie and I did like the non-rambling, actually good parts of the book. Anyway enough about that! NEXT!
What? Another King??? Yup! Sadly I made it 24% into this book and gave up. Now I can’t say forsure if this was a bad book or I was just not in the mood for King anymore. After the IT fiasco and reading Misery, I think I’d had enough King for one month. I may pick this back up sometime later (like 2018 later).
Well that’s it! Pretty good month considering I’ve been dealing with some personal issues at home and some depression. But I’m getting better.
Currently reading:
I’ve been slowly reading this for like a week. It’s good so far. I’m only on page 71. This hasn’t been the best week for me. I’m hoping to get a big chunk read today but I know I won’t finish it before July is over. So it will become my first August read.
Things will get a little crazy between August and December. I’m trying to get organized now so I don’t fall behind. But I’m start college next month. I have 2 years left until I finish my bachelors degree. I plan to start a part time job, going through some marriage problems (which doesn’t help with my depression). So I apologize now if I slip away for a bit. But blogging actually helps some so I’m going to try and keep at it to help!
Hope everyone had a good reading month! And here’s to August! ๐ฅ
I had 2 DNF books this month too…. but otherwise it looks like you had a pretty good reading month!! I really want to try the Laini Taylor books! I feel like I see them everywhere but I’ve never picked one up yet!

I’ve enjoyed the Laini Taylor. It was my first time with Angel/Demon story line and it was good. I’ve heard her new book Strange the Dreamer is pretty good also

I’m so glad you enjoyed Daughter of Smoke and Bone! I really need to read My Best Friend’s Exorcism. It sounds really interesting!! Also, wow I had no plans to read IT because I’m terrified of clowns but I had NO IDEA that happened in it. Yiiiikes. No thanks.
