“When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she’s been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.”
Damn! Here we go again! Yes I know I’m late to the fandom on this one…as I always am but it’s ok! So I adored the first 5 books in the Throne of Glass series (EOS totally crushed my heart and soul 😭😭) that I was so afraid of treading this and not liking it. Well I don’t have to be afraid anymore! Sarah is becoming an all time favorite author. She’s right up there with V.E. (Victoria) Schwab and Leigh Bardugo!
So I knew going in this was a Beauty and the Beast retelling. I knew a lot of people were pissed and didn’t finish the book because it wasn’t an exact follow of B&B. Well retellings are not suppose to be spot on. Then you just have a remake and how boring is that. Retellings are suppose to be a twist. Where the book is inspired by those fairy tales. Make it your own. And man did Ms. Maas do an amazing job at that! I loved the B&B vibe through the book but loved that she took it in a completely different direction. She is so talented. Yes it took almost the whole book to get the the action but not once did I get bored. With stories like these, where it’s going to be a long series, you need to dive deep into the story or your readers will be lost and confused. I soaked up every word and every detail of this book.
I am a huge fan of Tamlin! He hooked me from the beginning. I saw through his tough boy attitude. I have yet to see why everyone swoons over Rhys. (I’ve been told to just wait. The second book will show me). To me he was an asshole in ACOTAR 🙄. I do know a few spoilers going into ACOMAF but not enough to spoil the whole book. So please don’t spoil me!
Anywho I love the world Sarah created. It’s funny that she has two series going that are Fae. She is good at it, so I guess stick with what you know. 😕. I would love to see her to a companion series if the witches from TOG series. That would be an awesome read! But anyway, if you like love, action and adventures then pick this up. It does have some sex in it but unless it picks up heavy in the next book I honestly don’t think it was too much for teens to read.
5/5 🌟
