Write something that someone told you about yourself that you never forgot….
Hmmmm well lets see. This one is about a group of people rather than just one person. Before I get to their names, who they are to me and what they said I’m going to give a back story…
Once upon a time there was a little girl who lived in Michigan. She had a mom, a dad, an older sister and a younger sister. She felt her life was pretty decent. Then at age 14 her father died, suddenly. She has no clue how to deal with that. She came to realize she didn’t have anyone to turn to. She began to realize she wasn’t close to her mother or sisters. She became depressed, lost interest in her hobbies, friends, and she even tried to commit suicide once. She escaped this situation only to find herself getting into similar situations. Not having an emotional support system or a network of people to say “hey you can do that”, “keep going”, “we believe in you” 𢅅if you haven’t figured it out that little girl is me….
Fast forward to present day. In a horrible marriage (which I’m working on getting out of), someone who is just like the people from my past. Not supportive, emotionally and mentally abusive, just a downright asshole. Then I joined Instagram! And found the amazing bookworld that was forming on there. One of my very first booknerd friend was Sarah. We met on there almost 3 years ago. She has become not only one of my best friends but also my Parabatai ā°. I then became friends with Ronan, Catherine, Chris, and last but most certainty not least the amazingly talented Andrea. All 5 of these people mean the world to me. I’m not sure I would still be here if it wasn’t for their love and support and the four words I never heard growing up, I believe in you. š It took strangers wandering into my life for me to finally have the courage to keep going. It’s something I will never forget. Family is no longer about blood.
Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
⤠we do believe in you. Always.
