“Sixteen-year-old Juliet Moreau has built a life for herself in London – working as a maid and trying to forget the scandal that ruined her life. After all, no one ever proved the rumors about her father’s gruesome experiments. But when she learns he’s alive and continuing his work on a remote tropical island, she’s determined to find out if the accusations are true.
Accompanied by her father’s handsome young assistant, Montgomery, and an enigmatic castaway, Edward, Juliet travels to the island, only to discover the secret of her father’s new life: He experiments on animals so that they resemble, speak, and behave as humans. Torn between horror and scientific curiosity, Jukiet knows she just end her father’s dangerous experiments and escape her jungle prison before it’s too late. Yet as the island falls into chaos, she discovers the extent of her father’s genius – and madness – in her own blood.
π±π±π±π±ππππ wait? No! He can’t! What’s going on? This isn’t fair! Ugh! That ending!!!
I’m going to read This Savage Song next and then I’m going to finish this series! I can’t leave it like that! Juliet and Montgomery need to be together!
This book had me engaged from the beginning! It was full of adventure and creepy! I never saw the twists coming! This book (and I’m guessing the other two books also) needs way more talk!!! I can’t wait to read the next two books.
The characters were well written. I was jumping back and forth between Edward and Montgomery but there was always something about Edward that bugged me but couldn’t figure it out and then BAM! It hit me like a ton of bricks and had me like π±π±π±π±
I highly recommend this book! 5/5 π
I started reading this forever ago, but had to put it in hold because life got in the way. I really need to pick it up now that I’m back into reading!! I’m glad you enjoyed it π Great review!!!

It took me a while to pick it up. I was always hesitant since it got mixed reviews. But a friend of mine kept raving about the series so I gave it a go and was not disappointed about it. I’m reading This Savage Song now (which is amazing so far) and then I want to read the rest of the Madman’s series for sure
